Wines by Grape
Grenache
Grenache is a thin-skinned black grape variety and one of the most widely planted red wine varieties in the world. It ripens late, so it needs hot, dry conditions such as those found in the South of France, Spain (where it is called Garnacha), South Africa and California.
It is often blended with Syrah and Mourvedre to produce ‘GSM’ wines and is a chief component of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel and many other wines in the Southern Rhône Valley and it is also widely used as a blending grape in the Rioja wine region of Spain.
