From a region just north of Lisbon, the climate tempered by ocean breezes. This is deeply coloured and offers an overtly savoury nose, smoky notes complementing a wealth of red and black fruit. There is an almost salty, briny mineral layer which adds complexity and then mocha notes on the long finish provide depth and opulence, complementing the bright cassis freshness.
This flies the flag for non-indigenous varietals within Portugal. Cabernet Sauvignon clearly enjoys this terroir – producing a very poised, well-weighted translation of the grape with no hard edges.
