Wine Notes
Small family-owned Doamine Cyrot-Buthiau is based in Pommard, at the very southern tip of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Marc-Emmanuel and Olivier Cyrot are the fourth winemaking generation of this family domaine. They own six hectares of vines across Pommard, Volnay, Santenay and Maranges. In admirable ecological fashion, the cellars of Domaine Cyrot-Buthiau are dug into the side of a rocky escarpment, under a vineyard in Pommard. The wines are made traditionally: harvested by hand, de-stemmed and cold-macerated before fermentation.
Volnay is an appellation (AOC) a classic style Burgundian wines that are very true to their terroir. Over the centuries, the wines of Volnay have been popular. The wines area are often referred to as being the most ‘feminine’ of Burgundian reds, and are contrasted with the Pommard a more ‘masculine’ neighbours. Cyrot-Buthiau’s vineyard is run to a high level of details, everything is carried out by hand with a faultless attention by award-winning winemaker and owner.
Medium bodied. Elegant and silky texture .Full of delicate cherry fruit and dark spice, combined with floral and earthy notes.
