Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, previously Domaine Robert Arnoux, was founded in 1858, making the current incumbent Charles Lachaux the sixth generation of this family-owned estate. Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux today clearly revolves around Charle , firmly at the helm, who, despite his youth, is crystal clear in his aspirations and objectives. The three corner-stones of the Domaine are precision, definition and texture. He is insightful, ready to learn from his elders whilst confident enough to make up his own mind on the future of the Domaine. Charles is adopting viticultural techniques that have parallels with those utilised by the legendary Lalou Bize-Leroy. That is, high density plantings and minimal pruning of the canopy. This allows for lower yields and earlier ripening. Charles also uses 100% whole cluster which lends itself to headily perfumed wines. This estate is going places – buy now as the price in future vintages will only get more expensive!
This is a blend of seven plots. Approximately half is from Chambolle-Musigny and a quarter from each of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The label ‘Pinot Fin’ underlines the old vines and concentrated fruit here. Brightly red-berried, with sappy spice and a reassuringly weighty palate, refreshed by fine, lifted acidity. 70% whole bunch fermentation in 2017.This 2017 Bourgogne Pinot Fin, by Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, is ready to enjoy now and gives you a sense of the quality of wines from this producer – a fabulous vintage.
