Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc has its spiritual home in the Loire Valley and is a white grape variety that has a thin skin and a high natural sugar content. This makes it perfect to produce a wide range of wine styles, including sparkling and sweet wines. Young Chenin Blanc can taste of fresh apples and exotic fruit, while the flavours become richer and more rounded and honeyed with age.
Although Chenin Blanc performs particularly well in the Loire Valley, where it produces a variety of wine styles, it is also very successful in South Africa where it is now the dominant white grape variety.
